POSITION: Assistant Principal/Extended School Program Administrator

 

This advertisement is to identify qualified applicants to fill positions that become available for the 2024-2025 school year.  Applicants should state the level (elementary, intermediate, middle, or high) for which they are applying.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

  • Assists the principal with establishing a school vision and culture that fosters achievement for all students as well as professional growth for all staff members.
  • Assists the principal with monitoring and evaluating the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment through purposeful formal and informal observation.
  • Assists the principal with engaging staff members in focused, research-based, collaborative professional development.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and expertise with uses of technology, software, and data analysis.
  • Assists the principal with managing the school plant and fiscal operations in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Assists the principal with evaluating all staff members with the goals of capitalizing on talents and constant improvement.
  • Assists the principal with navigating the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context of the school in the community by establishing and maintaining favorable relationships with community organizations and individuals.
  • Assists the principal with carrying out the policies of the state and county Board of Education and the laws of Maryland.
  • Assumes the principal responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  • At intermediate, middle or high schools where grant-funded after school and/or summer programs take place, Extended School Administrators are expected to fulfill all the requirements outlined in the federal grants: Planning, administration, monitoring, and evaluation of the afterschool programs that may require 50% of his or her time.
  • Assists implementing Blueprint for Maryland’s Future “Maryland’s Blueprint” legislative initiatives.
  • Reports to the principal and performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Eligibility for a certificate as an Administrator I as required by Maryland State Board of Education Bylaws at time of application.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum and high-quality instructional practices.
  • Five years of teaching experience.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • School Improvement Experience
  • Formal School Leadership Experience (Content Team Leader, Grade Level Team Leader, Curriculum Resource Teacher, Instructional Coach)
  • County Wide Leadership Experience
  • Professional Learning Facilitator/PLC Leadership

 

DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

 

This is a 12-month position.  Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale plus a responsibility factor.
